[ some people come to a bar to drink their sorrows or stress away. Zack? nah. he's honest to god just here to have a good time. and if he gets inebriated along the way, well. that will just lead to even more great times.

but that's still an if.

what it doesn't do is stop Zack from raising a glass and cheering on anyone else who just so happens to either be making a fool of themselves or to goad another into a contest. see who passes out first.

[Cloud will never understand the appeal in getting so stupidly drunk that you act like a fool. But even he has to admit that it's kind of hilarious to watch.

Especially when you have a friend encouraging them.

Leaning back in his seat, Cloud stifles a laugh.]

[ now there is a goal: to one day get his good friend here heavily under the influence. maybe then he'd lighten up.

or cry and they'd all drown, but Zack prefers to think of Cloud as a happy drunk and not the other way around. he's an optimist.

That's because you're only looking at the aftermath. I'm seeing people dancing on those tables and waving those bottles in tribute to that dancing in the near future.

[And see, here he had just wanted to take a drink of his beer but no. No. Instead he's now choking on it, hunching forward a bit as he puts a hand over his mouth. It takes him a moment but he manages to send a weak glare Zack's way--that's really not that threatening given the faint blush staining his cheeks.]

[ oops. even while Zack helps Cloud out by giving his back a few pats, he's laughing. laughing at Cloud choking. what an awesome friend. ]

What? You don't think it'd be worth a few gil to see you without a grumpy or a straight face, actually having fun?

[Cloud playfully swats his hand away, trying his best to glare but it's hard to keep his grin at bay because, well, this is Zack.]

but sure enough, that is definitely a way to get his attention. Zack leans back just a little to see who it is that's just stepped up. ]

So far? Pretty good. No drunken brawls yet, and nobody's made out who shouldn't. Could be better, though. I'm still listening for any good gossip.

[Rufus has been quite enjoying sitting back in his booth in the bar and watching the drunken revelry around himself. He's been sipping at his bourbon, but there is no reason to drink such a fine liquor as if it were water. Better to savor it.

The distinctive uniform of a SOLDIER caught his attention, and after a moment of quiet observation, Rufus decided to approach the man.]
