Mordin Test~
"Never seen anything like it. Something new. Intriguing."
Mordin rested his chin in his hands as he stared down at the small specimen on the table before him, the tools he'd been using set aside in favor of observation now. He'd been trying to figure out just how the creature functioned, what it's function was exactly and it was definitely an oddity if he had ever seen one. It was like nothing he'd ever had contact with before and that--that made it all the more interesting.
"Completely mechanical. Feeds on metal. Not certain if created or other."
Reproduction was out of the question, being mechanical. Was in an experiment? Was something organic turned into this odd little creature? Or did something make this and others like it for some other purpose.
Hand lowering, Mordin picked the broken creature up, holding it in both hands as a thoughtful sound escaped him.
"Most interesting. Would like to see more."
He carefully turned it over in his hands, examining the structure once more, as if it were the first time he was getting a look at it. There were so many unanswered questions, questions that the creature couldn't have answered for him since it didn't seem able to communicate in a way that he or anyone else could understand.
One way or another though, he'd get his answers.
"Perhaps can reconstruct. Reserve engineer. Broke it down, now to put it back together. Could lead back to rest of population?" he mused, setting the creature back down, fingers curling happily before he reached for his tools.
Time to see if it was easy to put it back together as it was to take it apart.

It wasn't often Garrus went up to the Normandy's research lab to give the old Salarian a talk. But with the Suicide Mission and other.. personal matters on mind, he needed a good distraction.
The doctor seemed to have any number of little trinkets he fiddled around with - a lot of it Collector tech they had found. But sometimes it had no clear creator, maybe from some other alien race out there?
In any case, color him curious.

"Interesting thing. Reconstructing for further study. Took it apart but now I want to see it function again. Should not be a problem," the Salarian mused, carefully putting the eye sockets of the odd metal creature back together. He lifted the entire thing off the table, a thoughtful sound escaping him as he peered at the work he'd already done. "Origins still unknown. Likely from a planet not yet ventured to. Most intriguing survival tactics."
Finally looking at Garrus, Mordin cracked the smallest of grins.
"Eats metal. Attacks and destroys in swarms. Most interesting."
