Time is all we have

Everyone has a time limit. A year, the be exact. A year after you hit a certain age. That age is different for everyone but once your clock starts you have to work for more time or face expiration. No one ages after their clock starts, everyone staying youthful and happy--so long as you have the time to enjoy it.

Congrats. Your clock has officially started and now you have to keep your clock going. Whether that's through working or stealing from others, the choice is yours.

But remember.

Always keep an eye on the time.

Based off the movie "In Time". Rather than use the concept of everyone's clocks starting at age 25, I left it open for people to choose whatever age they want to use.

[Riku always uses his lunch break to do tasks he can't find the time for earlier or later in the day. It's just one of the many ways he's learned to make the most of his time, not wanting a moment to go by without having accomplished some essential part of living. If he's going to die some day he wants to go out with few regrets.

Today his task had been to go grocery shopping, if the bulging brown bags held in his arms are anything to go by. Despite their weight, he carries them halfway across the bridge with a steady gait, only stopping when he notices a familiar head of spiky brown hair.

Riku had met Sora when the other boy had moved into his apartment building, just down the hall. Being the only two on their floor close in age they had hit it off quickly, becoming good friends. At this point Riku knows Sora well enough to know that something is weighting on him simply by the slump of his shoulders.

He approaches, carefully setting his grocery bags on the wall next to his friend. A glimpse of the brightly colored numbers on his arm can be caught before disappearing. A day and a half.]

Earth to Sora. Are you daydreaming again?

[The sound of that familiar voice has Sora snapping out of his thoughts, almost dropping his sandwich as he turns to look at the other. Immediately the tension that had been lingering in his posture seeps away as he smiles brightly at the other.]

Hey Riku!

[Watch as he attempts to put on his usual bright demeanor, kicking his feet a bit, heels bouncing against the wall.]

I was just thinking about work, that's all.

[Riku stares at him for a long moment, clearly not buying his attempts to seem happy and cheerful. He knows what a genuinely happy Sora looks like and this is forced. His mouth tips down into a soft frown and his eyes gaze at his friend with worry.]

About work, huh? That would be enough to depress anyone. [Riku doesn't mind working in the factory for the most part. But it's not exactly a job that anyone dreams of doing. It's a method of survival, nothing more.]

I'm not depressed! [Feeling down? Maybe. Feeling out of sorts? Definitely. Not depressed!

..Even though that kind of describes being depressed.] I'm just..trying to figure things out, that's all!

[Factory life wasn't good for Sora--wasn't good for someone as bubbly and sunshine-y as he was. He didn't mind the labor, but it was the lack of fresh air and sunlight that got to him. And the lack of being able to lift people's spirits.]

What are you up to?

Alright. What are you trying to figure out. Maybe I can help.

[He knows Sora struggles working at the factory. It's not a good place for someone so cheerful and optimistic to work. But it's not like there are many other options for orphans like them.]

I was on my way home to drop off these. [He nods to the bags.]

Then I was to go back to work. I have a couple hours of my shift left.
