[Cloud snorts softly.]

[And then he puts on a playfully surprised look.]

[Nailed it. He's reasonably certain she bought it. Or maybe the pun was bad enough to distract her. He's willing to settle for that.]

And now you know why I don't want him to know. Do you know how much he abuses the puns he can make with his name? Don't feed into that, for both our sakes.

It's a good plan. The best plan when dealing with the shattered remains of what was once my soul.

[ snickering. yeah... yeah even he can't keep that up without botching it at the end.

and of course, he carries on like Cloud isn't somewhat surprised. ]

Well not now. I'm putting in an ad, remember?

[ from first glance, Zack is pretty sure you don't find that type of guy in a place like this. but the second thought he has is that hey, if someone wants to slum it, then far be it from him to judge. ]

Honestly? I just told them to give me the cheapest stuff.

[ because that's what he's accustomed to anyway! ]

Know that from experience?

[No. Bad puppy. No biscuit for you.]

Maybe I'll save up and do that someday.

[There's a gleam in his eye that says that might not just be an idle thought. Now that the idea's been planted, he can see the merit it has.]

It might be worth it. Think what I could hear if I got the right people plastered.

I'd need you here, and I'd need you sober, though.

Good point. I'll make sure to spare us both that particular pain.

[Her eyebrow goes up as her expression turns mock thoughtful.]

But I don't think I'll spare you the pain of him knowing how much you care.

[Nice try, Kunsel.]

Obviously.

[He believes you, Zack. Really.]

Oh, right, right. Guess I need to put out an ad as well.

[Reno just smirks and downs his shot of tequila]

[ good thing he doesn't want that nasty ass biscuit! ]

Now wait a minute. Why do I have to be the sober guy here?

You do that. A shame really. You won't find someone like me. Not in a million years.

[ so cocky. so arrogant. look at that smirk. then he reaches over and gives Cloud a much needed ruffle. ]

[She matches that smirk with one of her own, shaking her head in amusement.]

[A muffled sound of protest escapes Cloud as he attempts to bat the other's hand away.]

Maybe that's for the best. I won't have as many headaches.

Won't have as much fun though.

[ just saying. ]

That's true.

[He reaches over then to punch the other's arm lightly.]

Guess I have to make amends with you if you'll let me.

[ you call that a punch? can't even feel it. ]

I guesssss I can let you try.

[ He's not one to traverse around this side of town usually. No, not typically.

But he'd seen her here and there around the tower. Maybe not enough to make much small talk lately but enough to put two and two together that she hadn't had the most pleasant week. Of course, when you're a Turk, he imagines there aren't many pleasantries to be had in her line of work.

But she's still a friend, and that might have been all the cause he had to follow her that evening.

Of course, a Turk would never make that easy though. He'd lost her- or maybe she'd lost him in moments. And from then, it was a matter of dipping in and out of establishments. But it's easier as the night grows older and shops start to close up. Less to choose from.

And eventually, he does choose the right spot. Eyes linger on him, unfriendly, as he steps into the bar. A bit of murmurs can be heard here and there about how 'That's one of them damn ShinRa dogs' and 'Look at those freaky eyes', but he ignores them, letting it be barricading and the other loud, obnoxious talk as he makes his way over towards the back of familiar shoulder-length red hair.

A light touch to her shoulder is the first signal of his presence. ] Hey, Cissnei.. Long time no see.

[That's because he didn't want you to feel it this time, Zack.]

How nice of you.

[ yeah okay. keep telling yourself that, little chick. ]

I'm very generous on top of good looking. I thought you knew!

[She had indeed done her best to shake him, wanting to disappear and while she did consider Zack a friend, sometimes it was just hard to face him. It was hard to face anyone that wasn't a Turk after a particularly bad run of missions. There were things that happened, things that she had to do, that she wasn't allowed to talk about with others and Zack was one of those people that made it hard not to talk.

When he hadn't come in right away Cissnei had figured she had accomplished her goal and would be allowed to drown herself in some drinks before stumbling home.

Zack Fair was full of surprises though.

The touch to her shoulder has her head turning slightly, a sharp glare starting only to disappear as she realizes who it is. Tension seeps out of her shoulders enough to show that she isn't upset--just disappointed that she hadn't been able to keep him away. Now her night was going to be difficult.]

Zack. It has been awhile.

[Don't start, puppy dog.]

Right. You keep telling yourself that and I'll keep letting you believe it.

[ wark wark. ]

It's all right to be jealous, you know. I'll allow that as soon as you make amends.

"History, mostly," he stated, sitting back and folding his hands on his lap since his empty glass wasn't something he could really justify keeping in hand at the moment.

"What about you?"

[Rude.]

I'm so jealous.

[You can totally tell, too, if you ignore the sarcasm in his voice.]

And what do I have to do in order to appease you, hm?
