There were times when he could feel the emotions coming off Thranduil even when the other was keeping a blank face and other times he swore he could sense their jaeger even when he was nowhere near it.
"What fiasco?" he asked, finally looking at his co-pilot, head lifting off his folded arms as an eyebrow lifted. "I only did what needed to be done."
The kaiju had been a new category--stronger than any of the ones they'd faced before and smarter. The blow Bard had taken was meant for the opposite side of their jaeger--Thranduil's side--but he'd forced the other to move with him in a dodge and took the glancing blow that resulted.
But it had given them the chance to run the beast through with the built in blades on their jaeger's arms.
