Meme: Under the Night Sky

STARGAZING - whether you're on a picnic blanket in a field, laying on the beach, or in the bed of a truck, you're with someone you care about and you're looking at the stars.
CAMPFIRE - camping is the most fun when you're with someone else. roasting marshmallows, telling stories. nature's got it goin' on.
PARKING - you're at the lover's lane, parked at the peak overlooking the city, it's just you and someone else in the car. maybe it's time to steam up the glass or hey, you guys can just talk if you want.
FIREWORKS - maybe it is the fourth of july, the new year, or just because, but there's fireworks shooting off and they're magical. or scary. it depends on what floats your boat.
LATE NIGHT SWIM - maybe you're at the beach or in the backyard pool or at the lake, maybe you're going to skinny dip or maybe you'll 'fall' in with all your clothes. either way, swimming at night is pretty much always fun.
SKY LANTERNS - perhaps you've lost someone dear and you want to do something to remember them by, maybe you're making a wish for the future.

Cybertronian sky lanterns :V
Everything was different now and he didn't have those movies to fall back on, not when they were on Cybertron again and there was a heavy sadness about all the Autobot members.
Perched on one of the makeshift balconies attached to one of the buildings that had been one of the first restorations, Smokescreen was toying with something that he had put together in his free time, igniting the small fuel cell inside the oddly crafted little box.
A sky lantern.
He hesitated as he looked at it, turning it in his hands a bit before he glanced up at the sky--one so familiar and yet unfamiliar at the same time--optics dimming softly.
"...This is probably a stupid idea, huh boss bot?" he murmured, smiling sadly as he studied the stars. "Yeah, I probably could be doing something way more useful with my time. That's what the others would say at least." His vents cycled softly as his doorwings drooped. "It's just hard..you know? Everything just feels weird now."

Ratchet tilted his head as he looked down at Smokescreen. He shook his head softly as he lifted a hand to rest it over Smokescreen's shoulder. "I don't believe so." Ratchet said quietly as he also stared up at the stars. He pursed his lips, a heavy sigh passing through his vents.
"We have our own methods of dealing with such a loss." Ratchet's gaze fell back down to the lantern in Smokescreen's hands. "...Only time can heal such wounds."

"Time....how much time though? I feel like it's always going to hurt," he murmured in replied, doorwings shuddering as he absently smooth a hand over the lantern. "I can't even....you and the others, you were all awake for the entire thing and lost so many Autobots," Smokescreen continued, looking down again, vents cycling softly.
"I can't help but feel like it's an empty victory in the end. Does that make sense?"

Ratchet could feel his own spark ache and constrict in his own chest. Not only did this affect him, but to see this affecting his own team members caused him to feel almost guilty in a way. He was the elder of the group. He was to set an example. And yet, here he was, still in mourning.
"I understand what you mean, Smokescreen," he said as his hand drew away from his shoulder to rest upon the railing. "We had been through so much, and yet we have lost someone very important to us. The one person who got us to where we are today."

There's a light tinge of humor in his voice, though the sadness still lingers as he huffs a laugh, shaking his head.
"The boss bot would totally have that look on his face right now, that one when he was upset and didn't know what to do right away," he continued, optics dimming as his spark grew heavy and he tried to keep himself together. His hands briefly tightened around the lantern before he relaxed and lifted it, putting on a smile--for Ratchet's sake more than his own.
At least that's what he was going to tell himself.
"But you're right. He was important and that's why I want to do this. Send this up so he knows we miss him."
