A wave of relief swept over him when Lisa accepted his response for now, Kuron giving her a thankful look as her hands curled around his.
"Thank you Lisa," he said sincerely, her words filling him with a warmth that he'd gotten use to feeling when he'd been with the other...with the Paladins. That familial feeling, that kinship that he'd grown so fond of while he'd been living Shiro's life. Now, more than ever, he craved it and having Lisa offer it like she was gave him yet another lifeline to cling to as he tried to get himself settled into this new existence he was shaping for himself.
And she was right. One step at a time.
His gaze shifted to the screen as her hands slipped from his, the young man settling back a bit more comfortably, taking in the sight of the ship coming into view. His escape from all of this. No, escape wasn't the right word.
His new start.
It wasn't until they were closer that he found his voice again, so lost in thought as they approached that he hadn't realized he'd lapsed into silence, Kuron blinking out back into the present and looking from the screen to Lisa.
"Any warnings for me before we board?" he asked in a joking manner, trying to lighten the mood since, well, he had been responsible for the dip. "Anyone I should watch out for?"
