She didn't know where he had come from, or rather, why he had come from considering the bodies in the tubes all around them. Whatever he had been created for - it hadn't been out of kindness. He'd said enough to tell her that at least. So she was aware he could be dangerous. He was certainly built enough, physically, to be threatening even if nothing else. But - she understood being lost. She understood not knowing where you belonged any more. She understood what it felt like to find yourself drifting in empty space with no tether and no hope, with no one coming and no safety in reach. And she thought, just maybe, she saw some of that in his eyes when he wasn't paying attention.

It wasn't in her to ignore that, to not offer a hand out of the darkness and a pull to somewhere with gravity.

"Its up to Commander Hawkins. He's our CO. But he's a good man, with a very good heart and you wouldn't be the first refugee we've picked up since we got here. There's always room on the Explorer for anyone that needs a place and is willing to pull their weight. If you're a risk - " she stopped momentarily and turned to face him fully, meeting his eyes with her dark ones. Pressed her lips tight together and then said: "Than I'll take it. Because everyone deserves a chance." Her eyes left his, turned to take in the mounds and mounds of broken capsules and dead bodies that looked exactly like his. "And because I think they deserved a chance too and they didn't get one. So you get to take it for all of them." She looked back at him and offered a small smile. "So lets get you back to the fleet, with a hot shower and a clean bed and a real meal. We can work on figuring out the rest after all of that." She offered her hand and it was as much to help him if he needed it for the climb up to the top of the hill and her ship as a physical sign that she was going to trust him, for now, with her own safety and vulnerability. Because he could either use her hand to trap and hurt her - or he could use it to help climb to freedom and safety. And she wanted to believe, very much, that he was the kind of man that would take the second choice. But if not - then they'd find out now, before the fleet, and the only one that would be in danger was her.
