Her hands withdrew at his denial, fingers curling in, not sure she should let go if he hurt himself but not wanting to make things worse by forcing him. It was a full sentence though, a cognizant one, and it gave her hope. Hope that almost immediately switched from whether his mind was all there to watching the way he was so sluggish in his body. A clone? Was this the first time he'd ever woken up? Ever been conscious? She kept her hands in view for him as his eyes focused on her.
He really didn't look good and she wondered how long it would take to get a medivac here if they ended up needing one. Several days at least. It would be better to get him back to her ship but -
and then he asked his question and - oh. Despite herself the wry smile twitched one side of her lips and she shook her head, apologetic.
"I don't know." Her hands shifted, rested on the lip of the tube, careful to keep them away from him. Watching his face. "That's what I'm here to find out." And maybe he could help her. That was certainly unexpected. But before she asked anything like that: "Are you hurt? Doesn't anything feel broken?"
